The Troika Stool emerged from a fascination with a three legged joint that was unhindered by fasteners. From there, things got complicated.
I worked iteratively around the three legged constraint before honing in on the joint itself.
The structure revolves around the interplay of the three legs. They twist up to a mutated 3-axis dovetail joint and then continue their twist upward to the seat. Wedged steel is hammered into the exposed end grain much like the fastening technique of an axe or hammer. CNC milling for manufacture, 3D printing was employed for prototypes.
